Reverend Evelean Ann Holmes was born on August 20, 1948, to the late Deacon Roy W. Sr., and Reverend Myrtle J. Waller in Hanover County, Beaverdam, Virginia. Reverend Holmes was the oldest of seven children. God called Reverend Holmes to glory on September 13, 2022.

Reverend Holmes attended public school in Hanover County, Virgina school system. She was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of nine at which time she joined the Union Baptist Church where she was an active member.

In 1966, Reverend Holmes relocated to Washington, D.C. with her six-month-old daughter, Matilda to start a new life. She joined the Meridian Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Roosevelt McIntyre. In October 1967 she married Robert Eugene Holmes, Sr. and they had one child together, Robert Eugene Holmes, Jr. In 1981 she moved her membership to the Bright Light Baptist in Takoma Park, MD under the direction of the late Rev. Dr. Isaac Alston, Pastor, where she was a faithful member until early 2021.

Reverend Holmes realized God's call on her life and accepted her calling in the year 2000. Reverend Holmes was directed by her late Pastor, Dr. Alston in September 2005 to attend the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary. She was a twice graduate, completing a four-year curriculum, and on May 16. 2009 she graduated from the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary with honors and again on May 18, 2013, where she received her bachelor's degree in Theology.

On December 6, 2009, Reverend Holmes was licensed to preach the Gospel Ministry by her late Pastor, Dr. Alston founder of the Bright Light Baptist Church where she served
faithfully as Associate Minister, Missionary, Sunday school teacher, counselor for New Membership Orientation classes, taught Wednesday night Bible study and occasionally sang with the choir when needed.

August 30, 2013, God blessed Reverend Holmes to retire from her job position at Secor-group/Security Moving International after 39 years as Administrative Assistant in
Accounts Payables.

On October 11, 2014, Reverend Holmes was ordained by her Paster, Dr. Joe D. Lyles, Sr. where she served as Assistant to the Pastor until she decided to relocate to be with her family in 2021 to Columbia, SC.

Reverend Holmes was preceded in death by her parents Deacon Roy W., Sr., and Reverend Myrtle J. Waller; sister Magdaline Waller; husband Robert E. Holmes, Sr; brother Alonza L. Waller (Diane) and her only son, Robert Eugene Holmes, Jr.

Reverend Evelean Ann Holmes leaves to cherish her precious memories: Daughter Matilda L. Ferguson; two grandchildren: Kenneth Holmes (Denee*) and Ashley Sanders; three great-grandchildren: Mahki Reddick, Isaiah Holmes, and Cameron Jordon of Columbia, SC.: four brothers: Roy W., Waller, Jr. (Florene), and Herman Waller (Betty) of Maryland. Allen Waller of Beaverdam, VA and Dale Waller of Richmond, VA; and a host of relatives and friends.

Reverend Holmes loved the Lord, and her prayer was "Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary. pure and holy, tried and true, that I may be useful unto thee.

Her favorite Scripture;
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me." (Philippians 4:13)
